Welcome to Honey Maple Farms
Welcome to Honey Maple Farms!
The idea that has become Honey Maple Farms began in the year 2000 with a small maple sugaring operation. We have since added some small farm animals- goats, rabbits, chickens and ducks. Then in 2018, we decided to purchase 2 suri alpacas as pets. We absolutely fell in love with these beautiful creatures and decided to expand our alpaca operation. Now we are dabbling with bee keeping, and we have some new ventures on the horizon as well! Lots going on at our farm!!
Fast forward to 2023...
We are now one of the largest suri alpaca farms on the East Coast (and possibly in the US!) We were honored to be awarded the Top
New Suri Fleece Producer of 2023, along with 3 other Top 10 distinctions. We love competing with our suris!
Our philosophy for raising animals and running our farm is simple: we want to maintain a small farm feel to what we do, no matter the size!
First and foremost, we strive to raise healthy, well adjusted animals that are comfortable around people. We personally care for and interact with each of our animals every day. We are constantly learning new techniques for handling and training. We also perform thorough health checks regularly.
Second, we are committed to preserving, producing and promoting solid suri genetics! We do ALOT of research!! We study pedigrees, histograms, EPD and biopsy data. We maintain a genetically diverse herd and we avoid close relative line breeding. We are always on the lookout for promising genetics to add to our herd for constant improvement. And.. we participate in the AOA show system to showcase our animals and promote the suri breed!!
Last, but most importantly, we are down to earth people who love to get to know our clients and customers. We enjoy learning about YOU and sharing our experiences so that we can learn together about these awesome animals. We are always available to help and support you with your animal needs, whether you buy them from us or not!
We were well-represented by our two juvie females, Black Gems and Macy Grey.
Macy is a home-grown female out of Cinch and Rihanna. She placed 2nd in her halter class and came away with 1st and Reserve Champion in Walking Fleece (grey/roan)!!! She was the youngest in her color group!! We are so proud of her and we are looking forward to more good things in her future!
Black Gems, a Diamante/Jamayo daughter, had a solid showing in black female juvie, placing 3rd in halter. She held her own against the bigger, older crias, as she was the youngest in her class. The competition was very tough, but we have faith in her. We are looking forward to seeing her grow up and continuing to compete!!
Black Talisman was under the weather, and was not able to go to Nationals. BUT, we will get him out to The Buckeye Show next weekend, and see how he does there!!
