What a hard but obvious choice for a name!! Finally...we have Declaration by Independence aka Decker!
This boy is truly AMAZING!!!! He is extremely dense with folds of wrinkled skin from head to tail, tightly packed locks, and glorious luster! He has a beautiful upright stance with perfect conformation, topped off with a beautiful head and cute facial expressions! We could not have asked for a better outcome from the pairing of Angeldreams Kalligraphy and H & S Independence. We are so excited about Decker!
Initially, I wanted to breed Kalli to a true black male, but the opportunity to use Indi was right in front of us, so we went that route. He did not disappoint!! The fact that he is an Inca grandson is a huge win as well...that's where the density comes from. Kalli is not too shabby herself. She had a wonderful show career and won a Reserve Color Championship in 2021!
We want to thank Heart and Soul alpacas for making Indi available for us. This was a great pairing and we are thankful for this opportunity!
**AUGUST 2024**
Well, ...our patience has REALLY paid off!! Decker has outdone our expectations, and they were high! This boy is just fantastic---perfect locks, LUSTER, density, conformation, AND personality. We knew he was special when he was born, we just didn't know HOW special he would be!
As a juvie, he was stressed during weaning. The judges didn't have much to say about him at the Carolina Show because he was still a bit small, and his fleece was coming out. So, we had a learning experience! We sheared him and waited.... Then in the spring of 2024, we could feel one of his testicles, but not the other, so we waited some more....
Shearing season came in May of 2024, but we didn't shear Decker...BECAUSE his second fleece is still AMAZING!! He also now has all his "equipment" in place, and he is ready for the FALL SHOWS!!
Decker got a quite respectable blue ribbon at the 2024 Buckeye Fall Fest. Unfortunately, there were not enough entries for a championship in his specific color. He is just lovely to behold. I never could resist a suri in full fleece. In his 3rd fleece, he is still producing a very nice staple length, luster, and fineness for his age. Decker has what we are looking to produce in our suri herd!! We have half interest in his sire, Indi, and we have more crias on the way, so we are willing to let Decker get the chance to be a herd sire on YOUR farm. I think you will be very pleased with him!!
